On June 14, 2015 the Tony Hawks Center organized their second Bagels & Jam 5k marathon at Valea Morilor Park. The event was attended by more than 50 runners and their fans who enjoyed the support of several companies – World Medicine, Akuratti, Nefis, Water Domnesca, German Center for Diagnostic, Jasmine, Taraclia Winery and others. A small army of volunteers included Olivia Besleaga, Beni Combs, Amrid Wads, Erica Alexei, Mihaiela Ceban, Carl Donovan and Elena Man with additional promotional support from His Excellency Phil Batson and family.
Live music was performed by volunteers Evan Tracz and Claude Cahn, promoting good moods for all the participants. The event promoted a healthy lifestyle and family friendly atmosphere. German volunteers Alexa von Lutken and Mattis Luhmann from “Sensul Vieti” dressed as clowns and played games with the children, sharing sweets and passing out balloons.
The long awaited attraction of the Bagels & Jam marathon was the “bagels”. This year the Center Director, Diana Covalciuc, made bagels for the participants. Diana was trained in bagel-making by Slovenian volunteer Damir Ribic. The bagels are always a popular hit. They were gobbled up quickly.
Winners of the marathon were given reception bags filled with bottles of wine and the latest edition of “Playing the Moldovans in Tennis” written by author and comedian Tony Hawks (published by Cartier).
Media coverage was provided by Jurnal TV and TV Basarabiei voice.
The outcome of the Bagels & Jam event produced 20,000 lei, money that will be used to improve the capacities of the center for parental education.
