Special Needs by Facilitating Access to Community Occupational Therapy Services in the Republic of Moldova,&#8217; a 2.5-year initiative, has started this week with the support of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, COPM, Child Aid, and Rotary Clubs from the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany.<\/p><p>The team at the Tony Hawks Center, along with other colleagues, specialists in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and psychopedagogy, participated in an Introduction to Occupational Therapy Training from September 26 to 28, which is a part of the project &#8216;Improving the Quality of Life for Children with Special Needs by Facilitating Access to Community Occupational Therapy Services in the Republic of Moldova.&#8217; The International Conference with the theme &#8216;The Future is Today,&#8217; which took place on September 27, discussed various aspects of the global interconnected development of the occupational therapy profession.<\/p><p>The protagonists of the training, Samantha Shann, Vice President of Finance for the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, and Prof. Sue Baptiste from McMaster University, Canada, co-author of COPM, shared their extensive experience with academics from institutions such as the State Pedagogical University &#8216;Ion Creang\u0103&#8217; and the State University of Physical Education and Sport in Moldova.<\/p><p>Thanks to the support from the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Social Protection, several specialists in the field of disabilities and pediatric rehabilitation discussed strengthening the rehabilitation and social integration of individuals with special needs through Occupational Therapy.
