Catalina was born on April 17, 2005 in Chisinau. Shortly after birth, she was diagnosed with a severe cerebral palsy, a huge shock for young parents, but also for the extended family.
Immediately after diagnosis began the long periods of rehabilitation. Tony Hawks Center (formerly Hippocrates) is one of the first rehabilitation centers that Catalina attended. Due to the efforts of the specialists from the Center, her chance to improve her health and lead a normal life increased substantially. The girl began to walk, first with support, then without. Eventually, benefiting from the multi-purpose rehabilitation, she gradually progressed to go to kindergarten and then to school.
Catalina has an artistic nature, a profound sense of beauty, especially loves singing, dancing and drawing. Soon, music therapy sessions from Tony Hawks Center became her most desired activity, she hoped and waited for it.
The other institutions in the community supported the best practices promoted by Tony Hawks Center. Catalina also has tremendous support from her family, who are dedicated, helping her to overcome many obstacles.
At the moment, Catalina is a student in the fourth grade at a school close to home. It demonstrates her diligence and personal autonomy, she likes humanistic objects.
Over the time, Tony Hawks Center has proven to be not just a rehabilitation center but as a second family for Catalina.
